Founded in 2016 by Ankita Singh, Mimamsaa is a contemporary Indian design house rooted in the craft traditions of Lucknow and Banaras. The name comes from the Sanskrit word Mīmāṃsā—inquiry, reflection and the search for deeper meaning—and reflects the brand’s approach to reinterpreting Indian craft through clarity of form, proportion and restraint.

Ankita leads the creative vision, design language and product development, while her brother and business partner, Utkarsh Singh, leads strategy, operations, sales and growth. Together, they build Mimamsaa through a continuous dialogue between design and business, working closely with artisans, textile specialists and makers across Noida and Lucknow.

Every garment begins with an idea, memory or cultural reference and is developed through textile, construction and hand embroidery. Mimamsaa’s purpose is not to make Indian design less Indian in order to feel modern, but to give it a form that can live naturally in the present.
